Who’s Who at St Mary’s?

  • Mark Tanner: Vicar

Mark is married to Sue with whom he shares ministry. They have three adult children and seven grandchildren. Mark and Sue moved to Radcliffe in 2017, Mark also having been Curate here in 1985!  Mark oversees the leadership and growth of St. Mary’s, something he describes as a ‘privilege’ – great people, great church and amazing God. Mark is passionate about seeing the church revived, enabling people to encounter Jesus Christ and watching Notts County Football Club journey up the
    Football League.

    You can contact Mark here.

  • Carl Brooks-Plunkett: Curate

Carl is married to Hannah and they moved to Radcliffe in June 2024. Before Radcliffe Carl and Hannah lived in North London whilst Carl was training for ministry. Carl has worked as a Youth and Families Minister as well as a Paediatric Nurse before training for ordained ministry. He is passionate about telling people about Jesus, especially young people, after he first heard the gospel aged 14. Carl is convinced that he has the best job in the world because he gets to share Jesus with others. In his spare time he enjoys reading, writing, running and spending time
    with his wife Hannah.

    You can contact Carl here.

  • Alan Haydock: Retired Priest

Born in Wigan, Alan was a chorister at Ely Cathedral. Having trained at Kelham with the Society of the Sacred Mission for eight years, he was ordained in 1965 and has served in Rainworth, Hucknall, Bilborough and, for 26 years, as Rector of East Bridgford, Rural Dean of Bingham and Canon of Southwell. Alan is known locally as an amateur actor and, further afield, as a comedy speaker.  He played league cricket for several clubs and is a former member of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club’s General Committee. A Rotarian for over 50 years, Alan and his daughter, Sally, live in Bingham.

    You can contact Alan here.

  • Stephen Eastman: Church Warden

Stephen has been attending St Mary's since he and his wife Vicky moved into the village in 2022. Since then they have welcomed their first child, joined the PCC, lead Alpha and Stephen has become the church warden. Stephen is no stranger to the warden role having showdowed and supported his mum as church warden and licensed lay minister in the village church he grew up in. Occasionally you may feel you are seeing double with Stephen but only because he is an identical twin. So when his look alike appears the beard is the distinctive factor.

    You can contact Stephen here.

  • Andy Norton: Church Warden

I was born in Shropshire and occasionally went to church as a child. I came to Nottingham in 1980 to study at Trent Polytechnic. In my second year there God called me and I made a commitment to Christ in Southampton while teaching sailing two years later. I returned to Nottingham and attended Cornerstone before moving to St Mary’s. I work for a large company, producing technical tenders for waste water pumps. I’ve played the cornet since I was 13, and enjoyed sailing since I was 5! I enjoy making and fixing things, and have two adult children.

    You can contact Andy here.

  • Anna Judge: PCC Secretary

Hi, I'm Anna, I have lived in Radcliffe on Trent with my Husband since 2015 and have been worshipping at St Mary's since moving here. In 2018 I had my daughter and gave up a busy career in HR to become a stay at home Mum. I have gradually become more and more involved with the behind the scenes activities of the Church and became the PCC Secretary in 2020. In my spare time I enjoy playing as much tennis as I can fit in. I also enjoy cooking, movies, reading and spending days out with my family.

    You can contact Anna here.

  • Sue Tanner: Licensed Lay Minister

I'm Sue Tanner and it's my joy to be part of the Leadership Team here at St Mary's. Mark and I have spent most of our married life in Nottinghamshire after having met at Nottingham Uni way back... I like walking with him around various local haunts and sometimes in Derbyshire or by the sea. I love being part of a growing church and going on that adventure of following Jesus together. I also love spending time with our growing family and with friends and I enjoy reading and 'making things' of all kinds. I'm a (mostly armchair) Notts County fan.
    You can contact Sue here.

  • Ginny Cooper: Licensed Lay Minister

Ginny is married to Stephen and has two sons and a daughter-in law. Growing up in a Christian family she made a deeper commitment to follow Jesus on coming to Nottingham as a student. Ginny felt God call her to St Mary’s in spring 2019 after moving to the area. In 2020 she left her work as a music teacher to concentrate on church ministry, now leading the teams for Kids Praise! and The Play Café.  She loves working with children, and seeing people grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus.

    You can contact Ginny here.

  • Sally Williams: Church Administrator

Hi, I'm Sally. I'm married to Andrew and we have 3 grown up sons and 2 cats. I am something of a bookworm and also enjoy walking.  I have worked in the church office since 2010 and am likely to be the first person you encounter if you have a query, or would like to find out more about getting married or baptised. You may also spot me on the AV desk on a Sunday morning. I look forward to meeting you soon.

    You can contact Sally here.

  • Lianne Gore: Bookings Secretary

Lianne has been a part of the St Marys family since 2020, sharing this journey with her young family. As our bookings hall secretary Lianne is the first port of call for any bookings for our hall. She attends to every detail to ensure a warm welcome for all our hirers, and would love to hear from you if you’re interested in booking the St Mary’s hall either on a one off or on a more regular basis.

Lianne is passionate about encouraging the younger generations to engage in all age worship and in her spare time, she is learning to play the drums. Lianne hopes to be able to make some noise in church very soon putting her new drumming skills to work.

    You can contact Lianne here.

  • Stephanie Spencer: Safeguarding Officer

Hi, I’m Stephanie, the Parish Safeguarding Officer. I am the point of contact for any safeguarding concerns relating to the welfare of a child, young person or vulnerable adult - please contact the Police and/or Social Care if someone is at immediate risk of harm. I work for the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham as the Safeguarding Training Manager and Parish Support Officer and have been attending St Mary’s since 2019. I live in Bingham with my partner Jamie, and two children. I am a passionate advocate of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and am a trustee of the William Syndrome Foundation.
