ACTS & GRACE – ROAST PREACHER FOCUS - VICARAGE  - As part of the Sermon Series, Acts & Grace, there will be an opportunity to ‘grill’ the preacher.  After two sermons have been preached those who have spoken, will be available to answer questions or listen to reflections.  It is also hoped that these meetings will help the discussions Church Council will be having about the future shape of the church. These meetings take place at the Vicarage. The next meeting is today at 4.00pm.  Lasting for one hour, tea and cakes will be served.  Mark and Sue would love to welcome you.  Other dates are as follows:-

Sunday February 25th              4.00 – 5.00pm

Sunday March 18th                  4.00 – 5.00pm

Sunday March 25th                  4.00 – 5.00pm

SERVICES QUESTIONNAIRE - Today we are launching a questionnaire on our Sunday and Midweek Services.  This may be completed on a paper copy and returned to church or a link can be found on the front of the Website to enable you to complete it in this way.  If you are able to complete this online, this would help with collation, but either way is fine! We ask that you fill the questionnaire in once, for the Service you normally attend.  There is plenty of space for comments. The aim of the questionnaire is to help us plan for the future and especially how we may reach those who don’t currently come to church.  To this end, we would ask you to bear this in mind when completing. The final date for completion is March 1st. Our warmest thanks for doing this.  We value so much your support and encouragement. Mark & the PCC.

THANK YOU – Trevor Saunt and family wish to express their grateful thanks to all the very many friends of dear Ann for all the sympathy cards, letters of condolence and generous donations to the named charities received on the untimely and very sad loss of their greatly loved one.  Many thanks also to Canon Mark Tanner for his ministry and a most comforting and supportive service of thanksgiving. Trevor

BEREAVEMENT LISTENING TIME - There will be be a warm welcome for anyone recently or longer bereaved, with tea, coffee and information on Wednesday 7th February from 11.00am until midday at St. Anne's Meeting Room, New Road, Radcliffe. Iris McLean

CTR LENT COURSE – The CTR Lent Group’s Booking Forms are at the back of the church and should be returned completed on or before 11th February We shall be using the York Course “On the Third Day” as our guide. Purpose is to meet up and share with others from different churches. Please pick up a booking form or complete the attached booking form. Any questions? - ask  Ann Dean or Julia Hancock.

SAFEGUARDING  -  We estimate that there are still up to 50 or 60 people who play an active part in the life of our 2 churches but who haven't yet been able to access one of the Church of England safeguarding modules. The target is that everyone who has any paid or voluntary role at church (whether or not it involves contact with children or vulnerable adults) completes at least a C0 basic awareness session. We are aiming to achieve this target in the next couple of months!  Lyn, the safeguarding co-ordinator for St Mary's, has recently undertaken training to be authorised to present this module in a group setting - so there is no longer any need to fight with the online course! Feedback from a test session was really positive. 3 further sessions have now been arranged to take place in St Mary's Hall: - Monday February 26th at 1.30pm, Tuesday February 27th at 10am, Saturday March 3rd at 10am

Please could you let either Lyn Sugden or Sally Williams (845 1656) know which session you would like to attend. (These sessions are also open to anyone - even if you do not currently have a particular 'job' at church).

WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER - It is called Women’s world day of prayer only because women have put the service together! ALL ARE WELCOME AT THE SERVICE. This year we are introduced to Suriname, a beautiful country in the north of South America.  The service will be held at St Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, New Rd, at 2.00pm on Friday 2nd March, and will be followed by refreshments typical of Suriname. The service considers many themes, including wise use of resources and effects of various activities on the health of our planet. Do come along to learn about Suriname and to worship God with other Christians in our village. If you need more information, please speak to Mary Walker or Val Murray.

JERICHO ROAD - Thank you to everyone who donated toiletries to the Jericho Rd project, and men’s items for the Friary at West Bridgford. I have 3 boxes of ladies items and 1 for men. These will be delivered during next week. I am most grateful. Mary Walker

MUSTARD SEED PRAYER GROUP - The next meeting of the Mustard Seed Prayer Group (asking God’s help for us grow in numbers) in the East Bingham Deanery is on Tuesday 20th February 2018 at 2.00pm at St. Peter’s, East Bridgford.  For further details contact Sue Megahy

REFRESH IN LENT WITH BISHOP PAUL -  “I am increasingly aware that sustaining momentum in ‘Growing Disciples wider, younger and deeper’ is dependent on the spiritual vitality of those who serve and lead across our churches,” writes Bishop Paul. “Some have borne the heat through intense and uncertain seasons of ministry, others have carried the burden of leadership in some area of church life or in their day to day working world. That is why I am going to be hosting a series called Refresh in Lent, open to all but especially for anyone who exercises some aspect of leadership in their church, workplace, or wider community. “Refresh will take place over two consecutive weeks and the nearest for us is St. Giles, West Bridgford on Tuesday 13th March and Tuesday 20th March 2018. I will be joined by some of the younger leaders we are nurturing who will contribute in different ways to the evenings, all you need to do is come along open to receive and be refreshed.

SWEEP CLEAN - The Church has just acquired a carpet sweeper so that small bits (e,g. crumbles, leaves) can be removed from the carpets. The sweeper is kept in the choir vestry near Henry, the vacuum cleaner. If you need to use the carpet sweeper please remember to empty it when you have finished so that it is ready for the next person. Mike Boyd

COACH TRIP TO SHERINGHAM – The next St. Mary’s coach trip will be to Sheringham, Norfolk on Saturday 19th May 2018 and will include a trip on the Poppy Line from Sheringham to Holt and return. The cost is £30 per adult and £25 per child. The coach will leave from outside The Grange at 8.30am and return to Radcliffe for early evening. Martin Skeffington

You are most welcome to stay for refreshments after each Sunday service, to enjoy each other’s company and to welcome both newcomers and visitors.
