Heavenly Father we pray for all those who are either on holiday or are about to go on holiday.  We pray that each and every one of them has an enjoyable time both to relax from the strains and stresses of life at home and at work, and to have fun.  We pray for all the children currently on holiday from school that whatever activity they take part in they do so safely.  We pray that they keep away from and be aware of the dangers of swimming in rivers, or old quarries where underwater obstacles can create unseen hazards.  We pray that they keep safe from the dangers of traffic whether on the roads or on the railways.  Lord all our children are precious and we pray that they are taught about such dangers and that they have strength of character to be able to resist peer pressure if such pressure leads to dangerous situations.  We pray this Lord in the name of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen

RIDE & STRIDE - Once again this year St Mary’s will be supporting the Nottinghamshire Historic Churches Trust Ride & Stride, on Saturday 9th September. The Trust provides funding for the repair and restoration of churches in Nottinghamshire. St Mary’s has benefitted from their support on a number of occasions, most recently £10,000 towards our re-roofing project. David Hancock and I are planning to take part. We will be looking for sponsorship in due course. We intend that half the funds we raise will go the Trust and half to St Mary’s. JOURNEY IN FAITH - Each year a new cohort of students are welcomed to the ‘Journey in Faith’ (JiF) course. There are three modules of 9-10 weeks each  running across the academic year, starting with an Induction Evening here at Jubilee House in Southwell on 11th September (7.30-9.30pm). JiF offers people the chance to meet with Christians from a variety of church traditions to look at the Bible, different methods of interpreting scripture, what we say we believe as Christians, and all with a vocational thread running through the material encouraging everyone to grow as disciples and take up their baptismal calling.  It’s a safe place to grapple with those questions you’ve hesitated to ask, with an aim of enabling students to become more confident in their faith and thereby more confident in speaking to others about it too.
If you would like more information about the course please call Jackie Johnson tel: 07827 291724 or email: This email address is being protected from spambots.
