Heavenly Father we pray this week for our world.  We pray that the leaders of the world’s countries will make wise decisions and consider others when making these decisions and what the implications of those decisions are likely to be.  We pray for those countries currently at war with those groups which wish to overthrow the legitimate governments and impose their will upon the countries involved.  We pray for those countries where corruption is rife, where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer that the governments of those countries stamp out such corruption and bring about a fairer and more just society.  We pray for those countries where drought and famine are often the norm.  We pray that the richer countries of our world will continue to find the means to send relief and ensure that such relief gets through to the needy.  We pray all these things in Jesus our Saviour’s name.

Amen

RIDE & STRIDE - Once again this year St Mary’s will be supporting the Nottinghamshire Historic Churches Trust Ride & Stride, on Saturday 9th September. The Trust provides funding for the repair and restoration of churches in Nottinghamshire. St Mary’s has benefitted from their support on a number of occasions, most recently £10,000 towards our re-roofing project. David Hancock and I are planning to take part. We will be looking for sponsorship in due course. We intend that half the funds we raise will go the Trust and half to St Mary’s. We also hope members of St Mary’s will help to ‘man’ the church to welcome visiting cyclists, in particular during Saturday afternoon. Dave Townsend

JOURNEY IN FAITH - Each year a new cohort of students are welcomed to the ‘Journey in Faith’ (JiF) course. There are three modules of 9-10 weeks each running across the academic year, starting with an Induction Evening here at Jubilee House in Southwell on 11th September (7.30-9.30pm). JiF offers people the chance to meet with Christians from a variety of church traditions to look at the Bible, different methods of interpreting scripture, what we say we believe as Christians, and all with a vocational thread running through the material encouraging everyone to grow as disciples and take up their baptismal calling.  It’s a safe place to grapple with those questions you’ve hesitated to ask, with an aim of enabling students to become more confident in their faith and thereby more confident in speaking to others about it too.
If you would like more information about the course please call Jackie Johnson tel: 07827 291724 or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. The next Messy Church after this Sunday is in St. Mary’s Hall on Sunday 24th September. Shelford has its own Messy Church (date to be announced) at 4.00pm in the Village Hall. We look forward to seeing you at either (or both).  Please pray for our Messy Churches whether in Radcliffe or Shelford, for their leaders and everyone who take part.

Please pray for Rock Solid, for the youngsters who attend and the leaders and volunteers who help out; pray that members will find coming to Jesus as fulfilling and rewarding as having a fun time.  Please also pray for more helpers, particularly males, so that useful relationships can be built up leading youngsters to a more spiritual and fruitful life. The next Rock Solid after this Sunday will be as announced in St. Mary’s Hall.
