PRAYING FOR OUR NEW VICAR –Please continue to pray for our new vicar to fulfil both our needs and those of our Bishop Paul. Candidates have applied for the post and a short-list has been prepared. Interview day will take place during Wednesday 19th April in St. Mary’s Hall and we will know nothing further until the interviews have taken place.
YOUR PRAYERS – Please continue to pray for the victims of terror whether it is in our own country, other parts of Europe, the Middle East, Africa or anywhere in the world.
COFFEE POT – There will be no Coffee Pot on Wednesday 19th April when St. Mary’s Hall will be used for the Easter Trail Day and Interviews for the new vicar respectively. It will be also closed Monday 17th April, Easter Monday.
THY KINGDOM COME – Archbishop Justin Welby wants everyone this year again to join in a global wave of prayer. The campaign is supported by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, who are inviting every parish, school, chaplaincy, retreat house, and praying community to join in ten days of prayer for evangelism and witness in the run up to Pentecost. Prayers gatherings have already been planned in Southwell & Nottingham culminating in a celebration service at Southwell Minister on Saturday 3rd June with Bishop Paul.
EAST BINGHAM (MUSTARD SEED) PRAYER GROUP –. The next meeting is 2pm Tuesday 18th April at All Saints, Cotgrave. Please come and join us to help pray for God’s blessing on our clergy, churches and the communities they serve. If you would like to pray at home for our Area Dean Rev’d Canon Bronwen Gamble and the Deanery, do speak to Stella Holbrook. Bronwen has accepted the invitation of Bishop Paul to continue as Area Dean for three years from 1st May 2017.
FUNDRAISING – If any of you would like to help with fundraising for St. Mary’s without any cost to yourself please use the link below. For example are you planning a trip to London? Go to Easy Fundraising and click on the link to East Midlands Trains and buy your tickets on line. A percentage of the cost will then be donated to St. Mary’s. Likewise do you buy your groceries on line from one of the major supermarkets? Do this via Easy Fundraising and a percentage of the cost will come to St. Mary’s.
OLD £5 NOTES – The old-fashioned cotton paper £5 note will cease to be legal tender on Friday 5th May 2017. If after that date you find you still have an old £5 note think of St. Mary’s who will continue to accept them for the foreseeable future.
CHRISTIAN AID WEEK 14TH – 20TH MAY 2017 - Call for helpers with House to House collections. Last year we raised £5000.00 This Christian Aid Week, 14th – 20th May, our village is continuing to walk with refugees by:-

WALK THROUGH THE BIBLE - An exciting day helping us make sense of the New Testament, brought to us by Walk through the Bible, Saturday 6th May 9.15am for 9.45am – 5.00pm, Thomas Cranmer Centre, Main Street, Aslockton, NG13 9AL Those who attended the Oid Testament live day in February bear witness to the worth and enjoyment to be had from these sessions, so please don’t miss out on this opportunity. Cost £14 including workbook. Accompanied children aged 11-16 free. Please bring a packed lunch.
EASTER MONDAY 17TH APRIL - 10.30am–3.30pm, Southwell Minster Historic Chapter Library Opening. Also Organ Recital Series – Simon Hogan (Southwell Minster). Featuring the Minster’s Binns organ – a 45 minute concert full of light-hearted and popular classics. 3.30pm, Southwell Minster.
