I was born and brought up in Leeds. As a child I was taken to church regularly and attended Sunday School from the age of five. After leaving school I worked for three years for Leeds City Council as a clerk. I had always wanted to work with children so applied to Ripon Teacher Training College . It was here under the influence of other Christians that I began the search for a meaningful faith, they knew Jesus as a friend and I wanted to have that reassurance for myself.
After qualifying as a primary school teacher I went to work in Reading at a church school. It was while I was in Reading that I met the Fisher Folk, a community of people who wrote new worship songs in the 70s. Again this was another step on my journey of faith. During this time I met Dave, my husband, and also learnt to ring church bells as he was a ringer at Tilehurst Reading. We were married in 1978 and soon after we moved to Radcliffe.
We have two sons both born in Nottingham. It was here where my journey to a personal faith became real after attending a service at St Margarets Aspley, here I rededicated my life to Jesus and he has done wonderful works in my life. I have used my gifts of working with children by working for thirteen years in playgroup and helped run a mother and toddler group. I am now working in a Catholic school with children with special needs. I became a reader in 1994 a ministry that God called me to do to use the gifts he has given me of communicating his love for all.
